This research work examined the effects of waste tyre crumbs as partial fine aggregate replacement in sandcrete blocks. The reason for the research was due to the increasing environmental pollution of waste tyres and also the incessant increasing cost of housing. The waste tyre crumbs was prepared and replaced with fine aggregate in sandcrete blocks at weighted percentages of 0 %, 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, and 20 % at 0.5 water/cement ratio. A total of forty- five (45) sandcrete blocks samples were produced and cured by immersion for 7 days, 14 days and 28 days with a mix design of 1:12 respectively.
The results revealed that although the control’s sandcrete blocks compressive strengths were below the required standards using machine and manual methods, the rubberized sandcrete blocks met the required standards using the manual methods and has shown that an increase in compressive strength was possible when sand is replaced with waste tyre crumbs at weighted 10% respectively. These compressive strengths increase translates to 14.9 % and 7.9 % over the control sandcrete blocks at 7 days and 28 days curing duration respectively.
