ABSTRACT –

A series of lightweight and high durability of woven fabric reinforced composites for sport insoles were designed and fabricated using low-cost nylon, polyester and epoxy resin, referring to carbon insole model using in athletics. By changing fabric fibers and number of fabric layers, the fabric reinforced composites of insoles were manually prepared by hand-paste method. The stress deformation, bending fatigue resistance and bending strength of the prepared insoles were measured, and the effects of different fabrics and manufacturing parameters on the related mechanical properties were compared. The results indicated that while ensuring the property stability and shock absorption of cured resin, the fabric reinforcement can improve the mechanical properties significantly such as bending resistance and fatigue resistance, and the insole pressure was evenly distributed and performed well for the shock absorption effect. The developed composite insole shows a high potential for low cost popularization and long-distance running endurance sports soles.
