The article represents an innovative research of iron removal from acid leach liquor of polymetallic nodule by applying different combinations of regularly used neutralizing reagents such as NaOH, CaO, Ca(OH)2. The combinations of reagents such as NaOH + CaO, NaOH + Ca(OH)2, Ca(OH)2 + NaOH were proved to be better compared to their single use which is regular practice industrially. Out of Ca(OH)2 and CaO the first one is better as it is the hydrated form of CaO and traps less solution as compared to CaO. Thus the Ca(OH)2 + NaOH combinations are superior among all. In the sequence of NaOH followed by Ca(OH)2 the total cost of chemical consumed is less as compared to the reverse combination. It is also observed that when Ca(OH)2 is added prior to NaOH then the final solution has lower residual iron, higher volume of filtrate and loss of other metal ions are also reduced.
