ABSTRACT
A series of PVA- coum films with different concentrations (0, 30, 70, 110, 150 ppm) were prepared by casting technique. Thermal analyzes [differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA)] and vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR, FT-Raman techniques) were employed to characterize and reveal the miscibility map and the structural properties of samples. The obtained results of the thermal analyzes showed that glass transition (Tg) decreased with increasing coum content while the melting temperature (Tm), vaporization temperature (Tvap) and weight loss were found to be almost constant. FT-Raman analysis showed that some bands did not show any variation in position and intensity by changing the coumarin concentration such as 852.3, 1096.2, 1145.4, 1441.5, 2910.1 cm-1 while other bands appeared only with doping for example 1334 cm-1 in most of concentrations (30, 70, 110 ppm), some bands appear only in one concentration for example 1774.3 cm-1 at concentration 30ppm, 1801cm-1 at 70ppm and 1860 at 150ppm.
